Free fares 8 p.m. New Year’s Eve through 5 a.m. New Year’s Day
OAKLAND, Calif. – The Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District (AC Transit) shares the East Bay’s excitement for both the start of a New Year and the beginning of a new decade. As this decade closes, AC Transit wishes to thank our nearly 170,000 daily riders with a gift of free fares the evening of December 31, 2019.
Beginning 8:00 p.m. New Year’s Eve through 5:00 a.m. New Year’s Day, all fare boxes and Clipper card readers will be covered and will not accept payments.
Whether it’s a festive feast at a Downtown Oakland eatery; watching the clock strike midnight at the Richmond Marina; or traveling from Fremont to San Francisco to witness fireworks over the San Francisco skyline; no matter where you are in our 364-square mile service area all 151 AC Transit bus lines will operate fare-free during the designated hours.
AC Transit riders should take also note that all bus service on January 1 will operate on our Sunday schedule.
AC Transit’s Customer Service Call Center will be open Tuesday, December 31 from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. The Call Center will be closed New Year’s Day and reopens January 2 at 6:00 a.m. The Oakland Clipper Customer Service Center, at 1600 Franklin Street, will be closed New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. The Clipper Customer Service center will reopen Thursday, January 2 at 8:00 a.m.
