AC TRANSIT OFFERS THE GIFT OF FREE TRANSIT NEW YEAR’S EVE
All bus lines are fare-free 8:00 p.m., December 31, through 5:00 a.m., January 1
OAKLAND, Calif. – The Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District (AC Transit) has been the East Bay's transit of choice throughout 2022. We have restored nearly 90 percent of service to our communities, permitting our average weekday ridership to climb to 118,000 daily – a 21 percent increase over this same period in 2021 – and 2.8 million total ridership – an impressive 16.5 percent increase over the close of 2021. As the year closes, AC Transit has reached a service recovery of 88 percent of pre-pandemic service levels.
Unquestionably, restoration of service, new onboard innovations, and an all-new fleet of zero emission buses are inextricably tied to our valued riders. For the unwavering support during this year of recovery, the AC Transit family of employees wishes to express our gratitude with the gift of safe and free transit on New Year's Eve.
Starting at 8:00 p.m., December 31, through 5:00 a.m., January 1, all AC Transit bus lines will operate fare-free, including Transbay and Tempo-BRT lines.
On Monday, January 2, all local and Transbay bus lines will operate on Sunday schedules.
Here’s to health, happiness, and making more memories aboard AC Transit in 2023.
